Facts about Work Permits

When a person of non-European nationality wishes to apply in an UK based organization, can forward a Work Permit application for the same. The similar procedure is also followed When a UK based company wishes to employ a person of Non-European nationality having the requisite skills and qualifications.

The person who wishes to apply for work permit must show the genuine requirement or viable purpose to acquire the same. Similarly if the employer who is willing to grant the work permit must present the viability of business along with the authentic requisite that can be satisfied by the potential employee.

The work permit is subjected to a specific person and for a specified job.

The Main kinds work permit sponsored by employer are:

" Work permit (Tier 1)- this type of work permit is issued for those professions, which are on the list of Skills Shortage Occupation. Tier 1 work permit require producing less evidence to establish the need and requirement of a specified person. This is because UK Work Permit has already familiarized the dearth of people with those specialized skills and thus the employer does not require gratifying the resident labor test.


" Work permit (Tier 2) -This UK work permit is issued for the professions, which does not fall under the category of shortage list in tier1. The employer in this category needs to endow with the resident labor test.

" TWES (training and work experience schemes) - this kind of work permit are issued for training purposes of an individual. In this the company or organization provides special training programmers to employees and workers.

" Sponsored researchers- This category of UK work permit is for those employees who have overseas job and are required to come to UK for certain period to undertake research at the host or employer's organization. Most commonly in these cases the financial support for the research, persists in either of the following ways:

" The financial supports rest overseas.

" The endowment is relocated to the UK host or employer.

" The funding is managed and paid by the UK host or employer.


When a person comes to undertake research at UK on paid sabbatical basis, the finances are arranged and compensated by UK host or employer.
If someone comes for research in UK on unpaid sabbatical basis, the host or employer does the funding.

Once you have been granted with the UK work permit, your employer must sent you the original document that needs to be possessed before you go to UK. All the holders of UK work permit staying for more than six months also require getting a Visa before entering UK.

Introduce these documents at the entry port to the UK immigration officer, and once he gets satisfied with all the requisites for UK work permit, he shall grant you the entry.
